another poker torney question!?
Ok i know ive written a qiestion like this before but it still happening…
playing 2 torneys a day and going out when monsterously ahead, just now in a rebuy torney I have a good stack and my KK got busted by 10,8 i played it perfectly…flop came 3,6,10 he check raised my small c-bet i slowly called, TURN came a Ace, he pushed all in instantly, i call, HUGE favourite…and river 8, he busts me and i have to rebuy. I do and then to cut a long story short i get KQ on button, 2 limpers, i raise and it comes 2, 4, K…guy before me puts in a raise which was like 1/4 of my stack, i go ALL IN, they both instant call….AA KK LOLOLOLOLOLOL
absoultly crushed. WHAT THE HECK IS A MAN TO DO!?!? i keep getting my money in good every torney…read my last posts…i get eliminated everytime with kings or queens…AND PEOPLE SAY "You over play them….I DONT…really i dont…the hand above i trapped him, but then he rivers me"
Question: What can i do when i keep getting my money in god in torneys but coming out second best, i know ur probably rolling ur eyes at this, but seriously every torney im getting hands i cant fold or hands when i think (and normally am) a MONSTER favourite, but reguardless i go out. What can i do?! stop playing tornaments is the only thing i can think, i am now 100% convinced that torneys are all luck, it doesnt matter if even Phil Ivey was to play the cards i got, he would have DEFInATLY gone bust.
2 more little things… Firstly dont say…well you should have played more aggressivly to push 10,8 out the pot, i raised ALOT preflop because its a heavy limping table and i knew someone would call my stupidly big raise lol and they did and won with 10.8 lololol. Secondly i WOULD NOT complain as much if i put the bad beats on people aswell but seriously i dont…i know this because i literally am SHOCKED when i river somebody, its like the best feeling ever cos its so rare, i reckon I take about 15 bad beats to every 1 i deliver…please some say something….
Further info…im a good player, a strong grinder and i made alright profit in 2009, but when it comes to torneys i just dont understand how you get past the luck factor, just annoys me when i see some guys QQ’s hold up against both lower cards and KK, whereas when its me at risk with QQ i FEEL like i dont stand a chance…and 85% of the time i dont 
You have to accept that even as the best poker player in the world, you can still lose a hand. AA can still lose to 2,7 given the right combination of cards obviously. So, no matter how the hands turn out, there’s still an element of luck – no matter how you or anyone else plays it. They may play for the luck, or just because they feel like it at the time, either way it’s nothing but luck. You did the right thing in the situations you’ve described.

You answered my one question. You said you made a profit in 2009, so you ARE a profitable cash game player.
The bottom line if you’re going to continue playing tournaments is this – if you truly keep getting your money in with the best hand, then you WILL prosper in tournaments, too.
Since you continue siting individual hands, you still haven’t accepted the fact that "profit" comes from the long-term. I’m guessing that you still haven’t played enough tournaments to even out the law of averages yet.
Two more points I’d like to make: First, be sure to read up a bit on tournament play. Make sure you’re not using the same strategy you use in cash games. Not much is the same when all is said and done. There are different goals in each.
Second, if you enjoy poker and you are a profitable cash game player, why not stick with cash games? Cash games are where the lion’s share of your money can be made unless you really hit it big in a tournament.

And on the first hand, you played it right, he had 5 outs on the river? 10% to win? So, he got one of those 10%. Clearly, you don’t have the right mind set to play tournaments. Just stop.

ok remember moneymaker when he won wsop his skill level of playing was no better than most but he got lucky ..what make you think that even the best can lose by luck alone \
poker is 85 skill and 15 % luck but here the part i didnt tell ppl its not all good luck

PDQ gave a great answer. The only other thing I could suggest is taking these questions to a poker forum where others like you grind out most of the year for profit. You will be able to submit individual hands or entire tournies for people to review and help you keep your game sharp. I recommend surferspoker.com but there are others out there as well.

I think you played both hands wrong. You put your tournament life at stake and did not have the nut hand or nut draw in either case. You had good hands. In the first hand he check raised you on the flop. Im thinking TT, 66, or 33. I know you were correct in your ‘read’ but after the A came on the turn, you have to be thinking A10? AA? or the three other hands. You were behind to a ton of hands. I know what you were thinking when he instantly pushed all in. Its a bluff and he wants to represent the A. The second hand you just played stupid. You CAN fold KQ in a tournament. You can fold KK in a tournament. Aggressive is the way you want to play and I can understand that. I can understand strong bets, but you should not have put your tournament life at stake.

Just asking b/c I figure we could probably use a new one.
